The "Sunset Limited" currently uses a right-of-way (ROW) owned by Union Pacific to travel between Los Angeles and New Orleans by way of Palm Springs.
This route bypasses San Bernardino, whereas the tracks owned by S.C.R.R.A. (Metrolink) are more readily available and more direct, and they would potentially connect San Bernardino with Palm Springs, Phoenix and other points East.
